Sharing Our Personal NarrativesPhew, we did it! We finished our final drafts of our second personal narratives last Thursday and got to choose our favorite story to share with the class. From brainstorming, creating a graphic organizer, drafting, proofreading, editing, and adding many details, we have learned that the writing process is a lot of work. The hardest part of writing a personal narrative is probably deciding on a "Small Moment." A small moment is not a story about an entire week of vacation or an entire year of school. It is something small that has happened in our lives that we will always remember. Something that we can share with others that can give them a glimpse into our own lives. I enjoy hearing the stories about small moments, because it demonstrates how similar stories can be told in original and creative ways. These kids did a marvelous job of choosing those small moments and it was so fun to hear them share their stories. Sometimes it takes a little courage to share a personal story with peers, but I was proud of them because EVERYONE got up and shared. Yay to all of you! Be sure to share your stories with your families at home, too!
