CIS students scored very will on the NeSA Writing last year in 4th grade. 80% of the students met or exceeded the standards compared to 69% of the students across the state. We are proud of our students but understand maintaining these scores is not always easy. NeSA Reading scores were closer to the state average with 79% of 3rd grade students meeting or exceeding the standards compared to 77% of the state.
This week has been a lot of fun! We have enjoyed reuniting with old friends as well as making new ones. We have also reviewed rules from the classroom to the playground. Today we reviewed bus safety. Children learned how to evacuate a bus safely! We would like to thank all the bus drivers for keeping us safe across the district.
Welcome Back to School!
We are looking forward to students arriving for the first day of school on August 15th. Students may gather with their supplies on the playground until the bell rings at 7:50. We line up by classrooms and enter the building after the Pledge and morning announcements. We begin and end our day earlier than the other buildings to help parents with pick-up and drop-off. We ask that you come to the Intermediate School first. The school day ends at 3:05 on a normal day. We do have early outs (1:15) on the August 15th & 16th.

We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.
As part of the Greener Nebraska Project, Lucinda Mays helped our school plant some very nice trees. We are continuing to develop the North side of our building. As they mature, we will have a nice shaded area that will improve the aesthetics of the area that we can all enjoy.
