Senior Parent-Student Financial Aid Meeting Tonight

(Submitted by CHS Guidance Office)Senior Parents and Guardians - This Tuesday, January 13th, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium we will host our annual senior college financial aid meeting.  This meeting will primarily focus on preparing for college, financial aid, and completing the FAFSA.  There will be snacks and refreshments available in the high school commons both prior and following the presentation for any families to stay and ask additional questions.

"Shop With A Cop" - A Huge Success For Chadron Kids

Chadron FFA Livestock Evaluation Team Wins Districts!

Congratulations to the Chadron FFA members that competed Wednesday at the WNCC  FFA District Contest.
Winning first place in Livestock Evaluation and qualifying for the state competition was the team of Beu Jersild, Drew Jersild, Cody Madsen, Kyle Garrett, Lanie Reisen and Kane Welnitz. They were also first in the categories of Horse and Beef.

Second Semester Begins Tuesday, January 6th!

I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break!

Teachers will spend Monday, January 5th getting ready for second semester classes. All students will begin the semester on Tuesday, January 6th at 7:55am.

Bungee Jumping Eggs!

The results of the final project in Algebra II are attached.  Students gathered data on the elasticity of rubber bands using an egg in a cheese cloth harness for weight.  After 7 test jumps the calculator was used to create an equation that can be used to predict the number of bands needed to safely bungee jump the egg from a significantly higher height.

CHS Hosts Student-Led Technology Conference

On Friday December 19th, Chadron High School students will be taking part in a fun and innovative end of their semester.  They will be hosting and running their very own student-led technology conference.  

Instrumental & Vocal Winter Concert is Dec. 18th

The 6th-12th grade instrumental and vocal winter music concert will be held on Thursday, December 18th in the high school Auditorium. The instrumental concert will begin at 6:00p.m. followed by the vocal music concert at about 7:30p.m. We expect another packed house, so come early to get good seats!

Financial Aid Night: January 13th

ALL SENIORS and SENIOR PARENTS are invited and encouraged to attend our financial aid night in the high school commons on January 13th at 6:30 p.m. 

Dinner will be provided and financial aid professionals from across the state will join us to discuss how to pay for college and set up personal sessions for filling out the FAFSA (Free-Application for Federal Student Aid). 

Varsity Basketball Tonight! (No Passes Accepted)

Tonight (December 1st) Chadron will host Bridgeport in exhibition basketball games with all proceeds going to the Nebraska High Schools Sports Hall of Fame Foundation (Hall of Fame). Varsity girl's game begins at 5:30 with the varsity boy's following at 7:00 in the Middle School Gym.

Thanksgiving Break - Nov. 26-30

Happy Thanksgiving!  There will be no school November 26-30th!

College Application Week!

Seniors at Chadron High School will take a critical step in the college preparation process when they participate in a College Application event Tuesday, November 18 at the school.
The event is part of a pilot program of Nebraska’s College Application Week led by EducationQuest Foundation with help from college and high school representatives from across the state. Six Nebraska high schools were selected to participate in this first year of what will become an annual statewide effort to get all high school seniors to apply to at least one college.

CHS Students Attend Art Day

Five CHS students attended the annual CSC Art Day on November 10th.  They participated in demonstrations and classes on printmaking, glass, ceramics, mixed media, graphic arts and photography.  Mrs. Bird accompanied them for the day. It was exciting for them to also view the art shows in both galleries of Memorial Hall.

Veteran's Day!

Thank you to all of the Veterans and their families for the many freedoms we have due to your service!  Today we give thanks, thoughts, and prayers for all of those who have served us!

English II Students Explore 'Lord of the Flies'

For the past two weeks, Room 106 has been filled with color. Students have critically explored and contemplated the novel, Lord of the Flies by William Golding. We used the “Note & Notice” signposts for close reading created by literacy expert Kylene Beers to create Mind Maps. Some of the signposts include: Contrasts & Contradictions, Aha Moments, Again & Again, and Tough Questions.
