Weather did not permit us to set up everything outside as we had originally planned, but our teacher and volunteers adjusted activities and locations to make it a fun, memorable day for our students. We were so very thankful to have the help from so many:
On Friday 19, 2017 Chadron Primary School hosted our annual ACES Celebration. ACES stands for All Children Experience Success and students are given Cardinal Coupons throughout the year for going above and beyond our Cardinal expectations (1. Be Safe 2. Be Respectful and 3. Be Responsible)! When children earn the Cardinal Coupons, they write their name on the back and monthly drawings are held in which the students can earn small prizes. Teachers also select a Cardinal of the Month and those students get to have breakfast with Principal Uhing.
These four students were able to attend every day of school for the 2016-2017 school year at Chadron Primary School. This is quite an accomplishment considering all of the days we are in session and with the sickness that often strikes our young students. Congratulations to these students for their dedication and to their families for valuing education!
Seventh grade students came over to visit our Kindergarten classes and do some reading the last week of school. Our students get so excited with having the "big kids" come visit and it is so fun to see our former students doing so well. Thank you Kathy Smith for helping coordinate this activity!
The second grade classes recently completed their Bare Books. These books were a culmination of everything they have learned in Reading and Language. The students were quite creative with character development, writing techniques, and illustrations. This past week the 2nd graders were able to share their books with the kindergarten classes and all of the children were quite excited to be a part of this time!
This week Team Hoffman and Team Landreth paired up to become computer programmers! Using a program called Kodable, students worked on problem solving, directionality, and teamwork. By using programming language and putting our codes in sequence, our programmers were very successful and engaged!

Chadron Garden Club donated a tree to Chadron Primary School and got some assistance in planting the tree from Mrs. Cogdill's 2nd Grade Class. Susan Vastine (Garden Club Member) brought the tree Friday morning and taught the students about planting and care of the new tree. The students did a nice job of digging, planting, mulching, and watering our new tree and are anxious to continue to care for it. Thank you Chadron Garden Club and Susan for your donation and time!

Chadron Primary was so excited to host our Graduate Walk-Through for our 2017 graduates. As the seniors walked our Primary School halls they held pennants showing what their future plans are; our students were so excited to see the "big kids" and cheered them on with signs, clapping, and high fives. Please help us in celebrating these outstanding students with graduation at Chadron High School on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
Our Chadron Primary 2nd graders went over to Chadron Intermediate for their "Bump Up" Day and were very excited for what is to come. The third grade teachers, students, and Mr. Cogdill were very welcoming and our students had many of their questions answered. It is always a nice way to bridge the two buildings and we wish our students well as they move on to 3rd grade.
Chadron Primary School hosted a Retirement Celebration Thursday, May 4th for some ladies who will be greatly missed. These women have put in many years of service to Chadron Public Schools and we are very excited for the next adventures in their lives. We would like to thank everyone who was able to attend the party and wish these gals well. Best wishes and we look forward to your return visits to share all of your fun!
Friday afternoon Ms. Becky's Daisy Troop was busy earning their gardening patches at the Primary Building. The girls volunteered to help brighten up the elementary school by planting a variety of flowers in posts outside. Thank you to Ms. Becky and the Daisy Troop for making Chadron Primary look so great!
Chadron Primary staff would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the individuals and families that recognized our teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. The goody bags, donuts, and various treats brightened our days, thanks again!
Mrs. Angie Hudson (Kindergarten teacher) was recently awarded Teacher of the Month honors. This award is sponsored by Upper Niobrara White Natural Resources District as well as Eagle Radio (KCOW, Double Q Country, B 94.7, and Panhandle Post). A gift basket and treats for Mrs. Hudson's class were also provided by Ta-Da Quilt Shop and Art Studio. Mrs. Hudson has been an amazing teacher with Chadron Public Schools and we at the Primary Building wish to congratulate her in this well deserved honor!
Primary Families, please remember this Friday, May 5th there will be NO SCHOOL for our current Kindergarten students. This is the date our incoming Kindergarten students will visit for their "bump up" day. Thank you!
