Todd Green Musical Performance at CSC

Primary School Students were treated to an amazing musical performance sponsored by Chadron State College.  Todd Green plays over 30 string, flute, and percussion instruments from all over the world.  His custom-built electronics system allows him to layer instrument sounds as he plays and in effect turns him into a high-tech one-man-band of World Music.  His concert features original music inspired by more than a half dozen cultures in the Middle East, Asia, South America, and Africa. We hope you can join us for his public performance:

Good Citizens in 2nd Grade

Mrs. Page and Mrs. Sandstrom took their students out and about last week to help pick up trash.  The students found a great deal of trash to pick up around the football stadium and were able to help out by cleaning up.  A HUGE thank you to these two 2nd grade classes for excellent citizenship ~ a job well done!!

Ozobots

The August 21st eclipse may be over but the 2nd graders used their library time to further explore the event by programing Ozobot robots to demonstrate how the eclipse occurred.  Students used OzoCodes to create the elliptical orbit of the moon.  Students were engaged and inspired when the topic came alive after successfully programming the Ozobot robots!

Parent Information Night

Please join us Tuesday, September 12, 2017 for our Parent Information Night from 5:00 - 7:00p.m.  This is unlike the Meet and Greet where you could drop in and out of classrooms throughout the building in that we will have scheduled times for each grade level.  While we enjoy seeing your students every day, this meeting is just for parents, thank you for your consideration.  Ms. Uhing will begin by having all families of the designated classes join in the gym for a brief review of some things that pertain to all grades.

District Students Lead Fundraiser for Kubo Family

Chadron Public School students at all four buildings are challenged to raise money to offset costs to the Steve Kubo family who are coping with medical treatments and expenses for a member of their family. Steve Kubo is a long time employee of Chadron Public Schools and works in all four buildings as well as drives bus for many of our student activities and field trips.

Patriot Day

Patriot Day happens every year and is observed as the National Day of Service and Remembrance. It lands on September 11th of each year in memory of the 2,977 killed in the September 11th terrorist attacks in 2001. A bill to make a national day of mourning on September 11th was introduced in the U.S. House on October 25, 2001, but it wasn’t actually declared as Patriot Day until 2002. Today, the American flag is flown at half-staff at the White House as well as at all U.S. government buildings.

Last Day of School - Field Day Fun!

Monday, May 22nd was our last day of school for students and we celebrated with a Field Day.  Weather did not permit us to set up everything outside as we had originally planned, but our teacher and volunteers adjusted activities and locations to make it a fun, memorable day for our students.  We were so very thankful to have the help from so many:

ACES Celebration

On Friday 19, 2017 Chadron Primary School hosted our annual ACES Celebration.  ACES stands for All Children Experience Success and students are given Cardinal Coupons throughout the year for going above and beyond our Cardinal expectations (1. Be Safe 2. Be Respectful and 3. Be Responsible)!  When children earn the Cardinal Coupons, they write their name on the back and monthly drawings are held in which the students can earn small prizes.  Teachers also select a Cardinal of the Month and those students get to have breakfast with Principal Uhing.

Perfect Attendance

These four students were able to attend every day of school for the 2016-2017 school year at Chadron Primary School.  This is quite an accomplishment considering all of the days we are in session and with the sickness that often strikes our young students.  Congratulations to these students for their dedication and to their families for valuing education!

7th Grade Readers

Seventh grade students came over to visit our Kindergarten classes and do some reading the last week of school.  Our students get so excited with having the "big kids" come visit and it is so fun to see our former students doing so well.  Thank you Kathy Smith for helping coordinate this activity!

2nd Grade Bare Books

The second grade classes recently completed their Bare Books.  These books were a culmination of everything they have learned in Reading and Language.  The students were quite creative with character development, writing techniques, and illustrations.  This past week the 2nd graders were able to share their books with the kindergarten classes and all of the children were quite excited to be a part of this time!

Kindergarten coding

This week Team Hoffman and Team Landreth paired up to become computer programmers!  Using a program called Kodable, students worked on problem solving, directionality, and teamwork. By using programming language and putting our codes in sequence, our programmers were very successful and engaged!
