Chadron Public Schools 2022 Health Screenings Dear Parents/Guardians: We hope this letter finds each of you and your families off to a great school year! We are writing to let you know that the required school health screenings will be held on November 8-10, 2022. These screenings are not only a requirement by the State of Nebraska but also very important in early diagnosis of potential barriers in a student’s ability to learn and grow! These are routine school days during which we will be pulling your child from class for a short time to complete a hearing, dental, vision and height/weight screening. The schedule will be as follows: November 8th: Morning - High School (grades 10th & 11th), Afternoon - Primary (K and 1st grade) November 9th: Morning - Middle School (6th and 7th), Afternoon - Primary (2nd grade) November 10th: Morning - Intermediate School (3rd and 4th), Afternoon - any “make-up” Please note: a current physical was required for incoming Kindergarten and 7th grade students so they will not be participating in the height/weight portion. Incoming Kindergarten students were also required to have a current vision exam so they will not be completing that portion at this time. In addition, we have already completed Kindergarten hearing screenings in a more controlled environment. Any students in the required screening grades (K-4, 7th and 10th) who have provided the school with a “proof of dental visit” in the last 6 months will not complete the dental screening - as this fulfills the state of Nebraska dental screening requirements. Additionally, CAPWN Dental will also be completing dental screenings and/or treatments for ALL grade levels whose permission slips were filled out and returned at the beginning of the year. Results will be sent home with your student in the weeks following the screenings. Please let us know if you have any questions. School Health Office Jennifer Pyle RN-BSN Shelby McConnell MA
