October

More AMAZING students spotted in the building!!!  These Cardinals continue to go above and beyond for following our rules and setting great examples.  Classroom teachers celebrate outstanding students by choosing them to participate in the Cardinals of the Month breakfast.  We are so proud of these kiddos and the ways they follow our Cardinal Rules 1)Be Safe, 2)Be Respectful, and 3)Be Responsible.  Congratulations to all of our students!

UNL Virtual Field Trip

On Tuesday, Mrs. Landreth’s class participated in a virtual field trip to Morrill Hall in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mrs. Landreth was awarded the Roger’s Scholarship to cover the costs of the program, Animals in the Hall. Prior to the field trip, students worked in teams to create dioramas based on native Nebraskan animals. During the field trip, Ms. Annie guided us around the dioramas at Morrill Hall. We learned about the job of a zoologist, predators, prey and other animals native to our area.

Red Ribbon Week

Chadron Intermediate and Chadron Primary will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week Oct. 29th-Nov. 2nd. During Red Ribbon Week we encourage students and staff to wear clothing for the theme of the day.

Essentials Pantry

The pantry consists of essential hygienic and household items that cannot be purchased through SNAP benefits or obtained through other community agencies.  All of our items are free, and there are no guidelines as to who can utilize the pantry.  We operate on a “no questions asked” policy.  Basically, if someone comes in saying they need assistance, we will give them what we have.  They just come in and say they are here for the pantry, and they can fill out the sheet to request

Book Fair Winners

Congratulations to our Book Fair Winners, they were drawn after the book fair and received pencils, erasers, and bookmarks.  Our basket of book drawing was awarded to Hayden Whitton.  We want to thank all of our families who attended Parent/Teacher Conferences and supported our Book Fair.  With the money we raised from the book fair, we were able to purchase additional books for our school library!

Playground Updates

Parents, our playground is almost ready for re-opening, please review with your children and be aware for everyone's safety:

Thank you Domino's Pizza!

Perfect Attendance

These students earned perfect attendance for our first quarter of school and took time out of their busy days to receive their certificates and a coupon for a free ice-cream cone from EJ's BBQ.  It is not an easy task to have perfect attendance for the entire quarter and we want to thank all of the families that made this possible for our children.  Consistent attendance in school is so very important for future success and we are so excited to honor these students!  Congratulations kiddos, keep up the GREAT work!

RELAX

Our students who attend our Just For Kids after school program are so fortunate to experience a variety of activities; last week, Mr. David had our students practicing yoga.  Students seemed so attentive and the entire gym was completely quiet as they worked on poses and deep breathing.  Thank you Mr. David and the entire Just For Kids staff for helping students with homework and teaching them new and exciting forms of learning!

Fire Safety Presentation

Chadron Primary School would like to give a HUGE THANK YOU to our Chadron Volunteer Fire Department for their visit to our school and showing students all of their equipment and vehicles.  Our students were so excited to hear about everything you do and we appreciate the fire safety you share with our children.  Parents, this is also a GREAT time to check smoke alarms in your homes and plan fire exits.  Thank you again Chadron Volunteer Fire Department!

Parent Involvement Meeting

We hope you can join us for the Parent Involvement Meeting Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the Chadron Primary Library.  This group brainstorms all the ways we can involve families at Chadron Primary and helps plan and organize our Penny Carnival in February.  The meetings will be held monthly and do not last more than an hour.  We hope to see you there.

Chadron Community Hospital Partners with Primary

Chadron Community Hospital has once again looked out for our Chadron Primary students.  We are so fortunate to have our backpack program in which students are able to take home bags of non-perishable food items for weekends.  Chadron Community Hospital recognized the need for fresh fruits and vegetables and provided bags to accompany the backpack bags.  We cannot thank Chadron Community Hospital enough for thinking of our students and taking action to get their needs met!

Fall Food Service Advisory Meeting

The Fall Food Service Advisory meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 10th, at 3:30 in the Central Office conference room.

September

Chadron Primary was excited to honor and celebrate our September Cardinals of the Month!  These students were chosen by their teachers as children who uphold our three Cardinal Rules: 1)Be Safe, 2)Be Respectful, and 3)Be Responsible.  They are kiddos who have gone above and beyond good citizenship and we were able to celebrate with breakfast in the teachers' lounge.  We are so proud of these students and look forward to the amazing things these children will accomplish.
